Twende Link Limited is a Ugandan consulting and technology company, working under the motto bridging solutions. The firm delivers enterprise ICT, strategy, governance and capacity-building services, and designs, develops and supports management systems for schools, hospitals, law firms and businesses. We build the kind of software that runs an institution day to day: the system the accounts office opens first thing in the morning and the last associate closes at night. Our work is built around how professional practice here actually operates, from file numbering and the cause list to disbursements, stamp duty and money held on the client account.

This Law Firm Management System is one of those products. It carries the whole practice on a single record: clients with know-your-client details, matters with firm file numbers and court case numbers, the court diary with hearing outcomes and next dates, tasks assigned across the team, time recording against each file, billing with VAT-ready invoices and receipts, disbursements, money held on trust for clients, and the document register for pleadings, agreements and correspondence.

The court list is seeded for Uganda, from the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal through the divisions of the High Court to the Chief Magistrates courts, the Industrial Court, the Tax Appeals Tribunal and arbitration. A conflict of interest search runs across clients, matters and opposing parties before a new file is opened, and the client account ledger refuses any payment that would overdraw money held on trust.

The platform is multi-tenant. One installation hosts many firms, each with its own clients, files, rates and settings, and no firm can see another's records. Every account signs in with an email address, sets its own password from a verification link, and can be protected with two-step verification by email or SMS. Administrators decide, user by user, which modules each member of the firm may open, and managers with the delegation permission look after the accounts that report to them.
